Hotel Derby

I stopped for lunch at the restaurant, not the hotel. The food was very good, service prompt, and staff friendly. A lot of places were closed around 2pm, I think, but Derby was still open. Recommended.

Restaurant review: the food tasted really good and arrived very quickly, but the service on the terrace was bad throughout. No one noticed us when we sat outside, so after waiting 15 minutes I went in to say we wanted to eat on the terrace. A waitress came 12 minutes later with the menu, and we ordered drinks. About 10 minutes after that, my wife went inside to say we were ready to order. The waitress took our order seven minutes later. When it was time to pay, I went inside. The attitude the whole time felt like “pay and get out.” Maybe the staff treat people better inside, but on the terrace, definitely not.

We ate here four days in a row and were treated like kings, with extra food and drinks, excellent waiter service, and dishes prepared with great care. I believe the owner is there all the time checking on service and food quality. I really appreciated the attention from the owner and staff and will definitely return. Exceptional food and service, highly recommend this restaurant.

Derby is a bit of a mystery. It's clean, even the WC, and the food arrives very quickly, nicely presented. But the desserts look like catalog-bought products and aren't tempting. I'd avoid the wine by the glass: expensive and not good quality. What a pity.
