The personal welcome letter, complimentary chocolates, easy access, and fifth-floor views of the town and Matterhorn all made our stay at Haus Rosa feel special. My wife and I loved the comfortable bed, good-sized shower with strong water pressure, complimentary shampoo and body wash, and the appliances: fridge, stove, microwave, TV, great Internet, plus a washer and dryer. The location worked well for the Zermatt, Zermatt GGB, and talstation stations leading to Sunnegga etc., and for the main shopping street with Coop and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would look for Haus Rosa again if we return to Zermatt. We think others will enjoy it too. The room got warm, and with no fan or other airflow, sleeping wasn’t ideal. We didn’t want to leave the ceiling windows open all night in case of bugs or rain. A standing fan would be a great addition, or screens on those windows, though a fan would be best. We also had trouble figuring out the washer and dryer, which work differently from the machines we’re used to in the US. The coin box only accepted coins after we pressed buttons 1 and 2, a step missing from the instructions, so it took us longer than we wanted to get started. The instructions do say to bring detergent. Although we wanted a 40-minute wash, the machine defaulted to 3.5 hours, and we had to use the “fast forward” button to select the time we wanted. Our clothes were briefly locked in the washer when we didn’t have enough money, as the instructions warn. I’m not sure why it’s designed that way, but hopefully this helps the next guests avoid some of the hassle. Now that we know how to use the machines, a future stay should be easier.
