The location was a real challenge: there are over 95 steps to Apartment Kondor and no other way up. With heavy bags, it's quite a workout. We also found the apartment stark and bare, though it was clean and mostly comfortable. The bed was too soft for us, and the hide-away wall beds and sleeper sofa couldn't both be used at once because of how they were arranged. A lamp or two and a bit of color would help. The terrace had a table and a couple of chairs, but there was no gate through the fence to reach the yard. A large tree blocked what could have been an incredible Matterhorn view, and the yard was the only way to get around it. There was no microwave, which seemed odd for an apartment, and no spare trash or recycling bags. Zermatt encourages recycling, but sorting was difficult without bags, especially with the nearest trash and recycling point at the bottom of those 95 steps. The kitchen looked like it was from the 70s, but had plenty of pots, pans, dishes, tea, seasonings, and other nice little touches. Hot water came almost instantly throughout. The rental office host was polite and helpful once we got things sorted. We hadn't read the instructions and links closely, so finding the apartment and getting the keys was our mistake. After checkout, we realized we'd left an expensive item behind, and the staff helped us get back in to retrieve it.
