The dinner restaurant was one of the best in town for us. We tried eating elsewhere one night, then came back to Alex because the quality and atmosphere were hard to beat. Thanks to Jeffrey at the bar and Beberlly at the restaurant for their outstanding service. We left very happy and are already looking forward to returning. The hotel is a convenient three-minute walk from the Zermatt train terminal, especially with luggage. It has a warm, cozy traditional Swiss feel, with charming wood-decorated rooms, comfortable beds, and newly remodeled bathrooms with heated floors. Breakfast was excellent each morning, with good variety and quality. The overall atmosphere is elegant but relaxed, welcoming, and very family-friendly. There’s a spacious pool for kids and a large jacuzzi for unwinding. We met several families who return at least once a year, and everyone we spoke with had lovely things to say. This was a couple’s trip, and we had a fun, relaxing time.

The hotel is close enough to the ski lifts that we could walk in our ski boots without taking a bus. There are plenty of places to sit around the bar, whether you want to hang out with your own group or meet other guests. The spa, pool, saunas, wet bath sauna, and tennis court were lovely extras. Breakfasts and dinners were Michelin Star quality, and staff made your every wish come true. I stayed at Hotel Alex for a week with my 16-year-old daughter and 71-year-old father. The hotel is charming, with fine mountain and alpine architecture, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

By the end of my week there, I was almost in tears at the thought of life without smoked salmon for breakfast every day. Food and service, the spa area, bar, and front desk were all excellent. The bar and lounge have enough cozy spots for every group, and the ski room’s boot and glove heaters were excellent too. I loved the heated bathroom floors, the mixed and women-only spa areas, and the relaxation spaces. Hotel Alex was the height of luxury in the 60s and 70s, and “Anno 1960-1961” is carved above the reception entrance. The place really grew on me. There are quite a few changes in elevation around the property, which could be challenging for someone with limited mobility.

We came to this hotel over the last two weeks mainly for the tennis court and massage. I want to mention the 50-minute massage on New Year’s Eve. I think we were the last booking of the day, and my masseuse did a phenomenal job. It was a careful, deeply attentive deep-tissue massage, with a real effort to ease all my aches and pains. I’ve never met someone who seemed so sincerely committed to helping another person feel better. It was healing physically and emotionally, a truly holistic experience. Thank you!
