Tradition Julen Hotel

A charming little hotel, just the right size for me. It was nice having breakfast and dinner there, or spending the evening at the bar beside the wood fireplace. Our room, 308, looked out at the Matterhorn, and I loved waking up to that every day. A lovely place to just hang around.

Third time here, and we’ll be back this summer. Bruno and his team are magnificent, very friendly and polite. The atmosphere feels like an authentic Swiss experience, a home away from home. The food is the best in Zermatt, with real skill in the kitchen and amazing consistency. Great value for money. Thanks for opening your doors and sharing the love🙏🌈

We somehow got upgraded to a suite, and it was amazing: two bathrooms, two balconies, and a sitting area. The room was beautiful, all intricately carved wood, and huge. We also found Julen’s black-nosed sheep on the hiking trail! We were so impressed by this hotel. It was clean, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Lots of extras were included: breakfast, robes, umbrellas and backpacks for guests to use, Coke and water in the minibar, bath salts, a bidet, a towel warmer, a fireplace screensaver on the TV, a skylight above the bed, and a shuttle to the train station. Suffice it to say, you should stay here!

The view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we saw while travelling through Switzerland. Waking up to that peak each morning was breathtaking. The Traditional Julen Hotel staff were so accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We also ate at the downstairs restaurant. The food was excellent, though the room is cozy, maybe even a little claustrophobic. Don’t let that put you off, the meal is well worth it. Room controls can be handled from the TV, and the rain shower was great too. The hotel is a fantastic choice. If you want that unforgettable view, splurge on the Matterhorn room; you’ll be well looked after. Highly recommended!
