Best Western Plus Hotel Zürcherhof

The Swiss breakfast was the biggest surprise for me: a buffet with meats, cheeses, pastries, smoked salmon, and plenty of drinks, even Prosecco. Eggs were cooked to order. Mine, fried with peppers, ham, mushrooms, and tomatoes, were delicious, and I nearly missed my flight because breakfast was so good. Luckily, Zurich HB is a 10-minute walk away, and the train to the airport takes another 10 minutes. I also liked the friendly, helpful reception staff and the modern, clean building and room. There were free fruit, pastries, and coffee in the lobby around the clock, plus beer, coke, tea, and water in the room minibar. A universal Euro/US/UK socket was useful, though there was no USB charging port. They also gave a small bottle of wine for each day I skipped room cleaning, a nice extra.

Breakfast had a great range of choices, and the dining room felt cosy. My only small suggestion is to add a socket where guests can charge a phone without needing an adapter. I stayed one night at the Best Western Plus Hotel Zürcherhof. The room was compact, more suited to one person, but had what I needed to be comfortable. Reception staff were kind and attentive. Its spot near the main station and right in the Altstadt made it very easy to explore.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with a good spread of hot food including bacon and eggs cooked to order. There was even a sparkling drink among the options, which was a nice surprise. The receptionist was friendly, and complimentary bottled water, coffee, and fresh fruit were available at reception. Our minibar fridge also had free drinks, which felt generous. We stayed one night at Best Western Plus Hotel Zürcherhof. The room was clean and a good size, with a bathroom and portable air cooler that came in handy. The street was quiet, and shops, lakeside walks, and Zurich University were convenient to reach. A comfortable, handy place for a short stay.

Everything else about the stay was excellent: the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was tasty and included. The location was ideal, close to the central train station, with restaurants serving authentic Swiss food just a few blocks away. Checking out was frustrating. The front desk staff didn't even say they'd be with us shortly, and despite the “express check out” sign, it took a while while our Uber waited outside. We had paid the hotel fees, with only $32 in taxes left. I had to interrupt her while she was helping another guest just to get her attention. I hope the hotel becomes more welcoming and appreciative of its guests.
