ibis budget Zurich City West

Our room was surprisingly huge, at the end of the walkway, overlooking the garden and away from the main street noise. We were really happy with all that space and had no complaints. We arrived around 8am on check-in day after a very early flight, and the ibis team kindly arranged complimentary early check-in. I had a fantastic experience and would stay here again. Just set your expectations for an ibis budget and what you're paying for, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the space it offers.

A nice stay. The room was clean, and the hallway had a really pleasant scent. The water closet is set a bit higher than usual, which made for a unique experience when I used it 😁

The staff were lovely and always ready to help with questions. Getting here involves a tram, and it's a little removed from the main tourist area, though buses and trains make getting around manageable. We had plenty of space for three in the clean room. The bathroom was small, but the handheld shower had good pressure. The hair dryer may not suit everyone, and the lighting felt dim to me. The bed was clean and comfortable, though I found the pillow a bit soft. You can use the air conditioning or open the window for fresh air. There’s a shared spot to boil water, warm food, and eat, plus a playground for kids. The key access system also made me feel secure. I still really recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was covered in flies. I stuck to plain porridge because the oats were in a sealed jar, and used hot water from the coffee machine since that was the only thing without flies. I’ve stayed in budget places before, but this was the worst hotel I’ve been to. The room was so cramped that opening my suitcase took up the whole floor. The shower is inside the room with almost no privacy, and we had to take turns going down to reception while the other showered. Signs presented it as a fun design feature, and we were made to feel like our discomfort was normal. After a five-minute shower, everything in the room was damp. The toilet is in a cupboard, raised so high your feet don’t reach the floor, and you can hear and smell it from bed. Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the plugs were too small for European sockets. It felt like budget guests were tucked around the corner from the ibis, out of sight of the elite. I wouldn’t tell anyone to come here. Nothing redeemed the stay.
