Pacific Resort Rarotonga

We had a wonderful family stay at Pacific Resort Rarotonga with our two young children. The relaxed, family-friendly feel came through in the way everyone looked after us. The restaurant staff were warm and patient with our 5-year-old and 2-year-old, and Ana from housekeeping made our room clean, welcoming and beautifully arranged every day. Zee deserves a special thank you. When we ran into trouble with a local car rental company, he patiently helped us sort it out. His willingness to step in made a big difference, and that kind of service is rare. The breakfast buffet was pleasant, with good food and friendly staff, though the selection felt a little limited compared with other resorts we've stayed at. We would happily recommend Pacific Resort Rarotonga, especially to families visiting the Cook Islands. Thanks to the whole team, especially Zee and Ana, for making the stay memorable.

The room looked a bit tired, but it was clean, everything worked, and the hot water was lovely. I didn't like the mattress after the first night, and reception had it changed within 30 minutes of me mentioning it. My husband and I stayed 12 days over New Year's and met up with friends who arrived a couple of days later. The people at Pacific Resort Rarotonga were genuinely kind and welcoming. Any issue we reported was handled promptly, and the service was outstanding. Everyone there was amazing, so I wouldn't single out individual names. We ate dinner at the restaurant several times. We each ordered different dishes and every one was delicious and impeccable. The included continental breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented. We'd gladly stay again, and next time would spend a bit more to upgrade to a beach-view suite.

We all had a blast at Pacific Resort Rarotonga over the pre-Christmas break, our family of four with kids aged 9 and 11. The family room gave us plenty of space and was close to the pool. The pool is well placed to shelter from onshore breezes, and we could use it on cloudy or blustery days when the beach was less appealing. At Nautilis down the beach, the pool faces the shore and is much more exposed. The beach by the resort was lovely and raked daily to clear algae, which I hadn't seen at some of the plus 18 resorts farther up the beach. We worried breakfast might be just cereal and toast, but there was plenty. On two mornings we ordered gluten-free French toast, a generous portion, and the restaurant also made gluten-free pancakes for our kids, who need to eat gluten-free, using our mix from Woolies in NZ. Zee and the concierge team made a real difference. They booked Moana Turtle Tours for us, which I highly recommend, and their assurances were spot on. We ate at the resort most evenings. Food was good and prices reasonable enough, though there are local options nearby. We also walked along the beach to eat at Nautilis and Zest. Different atmosphere, but food was on a par at both. We liked the local touches and felt the staff wanted us to have a good time, which we did. My one gripe is that soundproofing between rooms could be better, so bring earplugs.

We stayed at Pacific Resort over Christmas 2025 and New Year with the family. Muri Beach is a fantastic setting, and the staff were awesome. Snorkeling was great, and it's an ideal place to unwind. Avis car hire is onsite, with a good choice of vehicles at between $65 per day. The island has one main road around it, approximately 34 or so kilometers in diameter. I'd recommend hiring a car to explore more, try different restaurants and enjoy activities. A slice of paradise.
