The location is lovely, right by the clear lagoon on the best part of the island, and it's easy to get around from here. The owner was nice, and we took a lagoon tour with him. It was the cheapest on the island and much better than the pricier tours. He made a yummy lunch and let us take our time at each stop. Paddle boards and bicycles were included, and we used them. The huts are very basic for sleeping, though. There were lots of mosquitoes, and the room smelled old and musty. The mesh windows meant we heard everything, and it got cold in bad weather. We had no hot water in the shower, and the shared toilets are at the back. It was a good stay, but the sleeping arrangements are very basic.

Matthias was extremely helpful, answered my many emails promptly before we arrived, picked us up at the airport, shared local knowledge and lent us a scooter for a day of exploring. The hut is basic but has what you need, including cooking facilities and a private outdoor shower among the palms. We loved the rustic beach hut and its location on the island's best snorkelling beach. Resorts with excellent places to eat are just a stroll along the beach.

Mattias greeted us at the airport right on time. We were there for four nights, and since the Beach Hut was free, he upgraded us to it for the first three. He was pleasant and helpful. Renting a scooter was easy since he had three at the property. Make sure you go to the police station for the souvenir driver's license, which you can use at Rarotonga as a temporary license without a test. He offered his day cruise, though we'd already booked with someone else. We loved being right on the beach. The place felt like Swiss Family Robinson, rustic and self-sufficient, with kitchen facilities. If you want a five-star resort villa, this may not be for you. The accommodation is very basic, but everything we needed was there and clean, and it all worked perfectly. There were mosquito nets and curtains in every room, plus equipment for opening coconuts. More curtains to block the light would be nice. The beach is fantastic, with one of the island's best snorkel spots, and we felt so relaxed. Bikes and paddle surf boards were free to use. Matías's lagoon tour was great value at 150nzd, with far fewer people than other providers. Tamanu and Tavae, two good restaurants, are nearby.

Matthias and Ricky were fabulous hosts, so kind and caring, with lovely touches like fresh flowers and fruit. Matthias also runs an excellent boat tour. We saw whales and swam with turtles, an unforgettable experience. The huts are rustic but well cared for, and all the basics are provided, including paddle boards and bikes. The location is wonderful, right on the beach with lovely swimming and snorkelling. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Harry & Linda 😊
