Rarotonga Daydreamer Escape

We were a family of eight in the three-bedroom apartment. Half of us stayed for a week, and four of us stayed on for the second week. The garden was lovely, and the apartment worked so well for our family, with a pool, barbecue, bikes, and snorkelling gear. We were met on arrival even though it was late, which we really appreciated. We had a few mishaps, including lost or delayed luggage, a rental car breakdown, and my daughter getting sick. Rob and Anna were full of useful knowledge, especially when it came to finding a local doctor’s clinic easily. Their suggestions for attractions and restaurants were great. Vaianas was our favourite, especially the fire dance night. We also loved the cross-island hike, and the Daydreamer is well placed for getting to the trail. Lil G’s is right next door, and our favourite snorkelling spot was just up the road at the Rarotongan. We accidentally caused a little damage to the countertop, and Rob was a huge help as I worked through the insurance and paperwork. So grateful. We’ll be back. The apartment was roomy and fully furnished, and we could use Rob and Ann’s bikes to explore Rarotonga from east to west. That was really useful and fun at any time. We spent a week at Daydreamer Escape, in a tropical garden just a few steps from the clear sea and white-sand beach. Everything was perfect. If I could, I’d go back every summer.

The hosts provide everything you need to be self-sufficient, and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. The pool is gorgeous too. I did find it odd that there was no wall between the living room and bedroom, but when you’re on the islands, you may as well do things island-style. Lovely hosts, and nothing to fault with the place.

We changed our rating from four to five stars after our hosts helped us successfully with an insurance claim related to our stay. The place is in a good west or southwest location, with the beach across the road, and we stayed about two weeks. There’s a pool, BBQ, snorkels, bikes, and a lounge. Friendly local animals sometimes stop by, and our hosts were attentive and quick to respond with useful island tips and suggestions for places to get Kai. The internet was hit or miss, though that’s understandable given the location. The beds and pillows weren’t Tier-1 and didn’t give us the best sleep, but they’re fine if you’re trying to spend as little time in bed as possible and enjoy the island. The countertops are formica, not granite, and hot pans will leave burn marks.
