ibis Antofagasta

A friendly staff member hurried around to find me a room with working AC after the first two rooms had broken units. That was okay, though parts of the replacement still needed renovation. One of the more disappointing Ibis hotels I've stayed at. It needs attention.

It's a pretty modern hotel in a good location. My room was clean, well lit, and heated well. I liked the design apart from one orange wall that felt out of place. Two little annoyances: there were no outlets next to the beds, and the old hair dryer only worked while I kept the button pressed down.

A fast wifi connection and a decent selection of beer and wine at the bar are nice extras. The bed was comfortable, the shower ran hot and strong, and the staff were pleasant. It's clean, functional, and efficient, so it's a good choice for me. It loses a star for feeling sterile and lacking character, though this isn't really a resort destination.

The rooms are small, but well designed, comfortable, and efficient. I was told mine would have an ocean view, but as you can see in the attached photo, that view was a joke. The wifi was temperamental too. The restaurant itself was nice, though the menu was limited, the food only okay at best, and the wait staff seemed untrained. The front desk was understaffed but friendly and efficient. Still, it's a very nice facility, and I'd stay again.
