Getting straight onto the beach from the restaurant is handy, and the hotel is close to the beach in general. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, with friendly, courteous staff, and the price is decent. The restaurant menu doesn’t have much to choose from, though, and the pool looks like it needs a deep clean.

I thought the hotel was a good option at a reasonable price. The rooms and service were good, and breakfast had coffee, juice, fruit, and several kinds of bread and pastries. Dinner was a different story: what we got felt a bit pricey for the amount of food. The big draw is the location. Walk out and you’re at Chinchorro beach, which I think is the best one around. There’s a shower by the pool to rinse off the sand when you get back.

The ocean view from my room was enchanting, and after spending almost three months at the hotel in total, I had a good time. The beach is very close, restaurants are all around, and there are good weekend attractions for kids. The staff were very kind. A couple of things to know: it can be difficult if you don’t speak Spanish, and the WiFi isn’t great. I recommend Rayu restaurant to hotel guests. My first impression was rough, though. Even with a reservation, I waited three hours to find out there were no rooms available.

I really enjoyed the feel of this northern Chilean city during my first trip to Arica. At Diego de Almagro, I had a clean, good room and found the staff very friendly. Breakfast was simple, in the Latin American style. I especially liked the location and the Pacific Ocean view. You’ll need a taxi to get from the hotel to Arica center.
