The bathroom was filthy and falling apart, and there were cockroaches in both the bathroom and the bed. Our room window was broken, and the guy behind the bar was smoking weed, with the smell filling our room. I’d never had to pay Booking’s commission on top of the booking price before. The only good thing was the birds in the yard, though the hostel doesn’t control them.

The outside space was lovely, with hummingbirds flying around, and the wifi generally worked well. The kitchen was well equipped, and there were lots of charging ports. The beds were comfy, with curtains on the lower bunks. Lovely hostel and really friendly staff.

We expected to stay just one night at Posada Gallo, but the hostel’s energy and the owner won us over, so we ended up staying three. It really does feel like an oasis in the desert, somewhere to rest and connect with a wonderful community.

The garden was the best part. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and Claudio is a wonderful host.

Friendly, helpful staff and a big kitchen, with everything close by. The hostel has a great garden where you can relax, and the atmosphere is nice. I could have stayed longer.
