Hotel Santa Anita

The room was comfortable, and the bathroom and dining room had plenty of space. The shared kitchen was comfortable to use and fully equipped. Everything looked clean, attractive, and well cared for. I’d come back, but the parking setup and access made things frustrating. The lot is outdoors, half a block away, and you have to ask the owners for the garage keys each time you take the car out or park, then return them. You also have to ring the bell every time you come and go. We wanted to leave early, but had to wait for them to wake up so we could ask for the key. Some guests smoked, and the smell lingered, so smoking in the rooms should be prohibited. The charges also seemed to depend on who was staying: my husband, our 4-year-old son, and I paid 35,000 a night, while a couple with two teenage boys paid 30,000, and another couple paid 25 thousand.

For a place right in the center, the price was excellent. The gentleman who welcomed us was really friendly, and everything was spotless and neat.

Andrés and his wife made us feel very welcome. The room was fantastic and the service was great. It’s only a block from the plaza, with an ATM right next door, and guests can use the kitchen.

The location made getting around easy: shops are all over, the beach and fishing terminal are two blocks away, and buses to Caldera go right past. Our room had an ocean-view balcony, a modern TV with cable, Wi-Fi, a minibar, and a roomy closet. There’s cleaning service when you go out. The bathrooms are large, and the big kitchen has what you need to cook. The shared area has two large dining tables and a sitting space, with bright, lively decor. We’ve been on vacation in Caldera for 13 days, and the hotel has been excellent. The man who manages it has been incredibly helpful whenever we’ve had a problem. I’d stay here again if I returned to Caldera. A few things could be better. Breakfast isn’t included, and the bathrooms only have toilet paper, with no shampoo or conditioner. Some light switches are missing or uncovered, though I think they’re being repaired. The beds are warm and comfortable but a little noisy. There’s a school a block away, and the kids can scream like crazy. The busy street brings car noise, too.
