La Minga Hostel

Camila, the owner, knows that lots of people arrive in Chiloe without a clear plan, and she’ll give you a full rundown of what to do. The rooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is clean and well equipped, and there’s a cool little common area. Highly recommend if you're going to Chiloe island.

We booked five nights but stayed only two, and honestly wished we'd stayed just one. The old house is run down and needs remodeling and a review of its pricing. We booked a room with a private bathroom, but it was tiny, there was no hot water, and the walls were so thin we could hear the neighbors. At $55 a night, it costs way too much for what you get. There are more competitive places to stay in town for that price.

The owners are great people and helped us make the most of our stay in Castro. The hostel is in a great spot, just a few minutes' walk from the main market. It has big rooms, comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and clean bathrooms with nice hot water.

A quiet, considerate hostel in a good location, kept clean and in good shape. The kitchen is very good, and tea and coffee are available all the time. There’s also a small library and a collection of unwanted items you can choose from. I’d recommend it. The friendly cat is the best supervisor.
