Hotel Sonetto

Breakfast was the strangest part of our stay, though we were prepared for it and didn't mind. Each morning we got a sandwich, two pieces of fruit, cake, yoghurt, a small cereal pot, and drinks. The sandwich was ham and cheese one day, chicken salad the next, then salami. A buffet would've been nice, but at the equivalent of £18 a night for room and breakfast, I can't complain. The hotel is a short walk across the river in a nice, safe area. There are homeless people near the hotel, but I don't think it's fair to judge the place or those people for that. It's nobody's fault, especially the people living in those conditions. The bathrooms were average, with a slow-draining shower but good pressure and hot water. Some towel hooks would help. Those were minor issues, and our room was cleaned daily. We had a wifi problem because of where our first room was, but the staff quickly moved us to another one just like it. Both rooms were spacious and clean, with a Smart TV and wardrobe. The lobby and shared areas were nicely furnished and kept up, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We booked three nights at reasonable prices despite seeing some poor reviews, and prepared for the worst. I had a lovely stay, and think the hotel deserves a higher rating. If an issue comes up, you can talk to reception or use the WhatsApp number they give you, and they'll sort it out.

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly, and it was a short walk to nicer areas. But we wouldn't stay again. The rooms were incredibly shabby, with torn sheets, a shower that wouldn't drain, and barely enough space to lay out two suitcases. There were no hooks or places to put anything, even in the bathroom, and the paint job was laughably slapdash. The public spaces and lobby looked lovely. A small homeless encampment right outside meant the area smelled of urine.

Elaine at the Front Desk gave great service. The sleeping room looked nice but was disgusting, and we found a bug under one of the pillows. During our stay, they didn't clean the bathroom or change the towels. Our river view was of trash and homeless people.

The staff were very nice, but I have to give this place one star. I agree with the other reviews, and I also had no internet signal in my room on any of my friends' devices. I can't understand how that could happen.
