The setting is a big part of the appeal: the hotel sits high on a ridge, looking out over the bay and Castro’s port. It’s a lovely, quiet rural retreat, and the rooms, food, and service are all very good. Rent a car if you can, there’s plenty to see in Chiloe’s small towns and nature preserves, including penguins.

The room was a good size and had a nice view, but it didn’t feel like good value. The food was okay, though repetitive, and there were cleanliness problems, including used toilet paper left in the bathroom. The place felt tired, and service was poor compared with other places we stayed in Chile.

Ocio was a real highlight of our four days in Chiloe. The staff were warm and helpful, and the food was excellent. The hotel’s position feels almost magical, with amazing views, and the thoughtfully designed rooms sit naturally in the surroundings. I can’t imagine finding a nicer place to stay on enchanting Chiloe.

The view really is amazing, but it didn’t make the stay worth 260.000$ for one night without breakfast. This is the most expensive hotel in the region, and the experience felt poor for the price. Think twice before booking.
