Hotel Don Matias

I'm a foreigner and want to document the awful treatment I experienced here. I felt I was treated irresponsibly and dishonestly, and discriminated against. Booking.com said no prepayment was required. The establishment tried to charge my card improperly, then told me they didn't offer automatic payments. When I arrived on Saturday, I offered to pay by phone using a digital payment, but they refused and pressured me to cancel, saying I could only pay on Monday. On Monday I couldn't sort out my banking situation in time. They offered no alternative and treated it as my fault, although I believe the conflict came from their mismanagement. The owner took my phone without permission and tried to manipulate the summons I was writing, so I had to call the police. I felt this treatment of a foreigner was hostile and prejudiced. On August 20th, police also approached another guest because management wrongly assumed he was my friend. I found that humiliating and abusive, and it showed a lack of respect and professionalism. I discovered on Saturday that the establishment operates as a motel, and the noise was unbearable, so I had to sleep elsewhere. They also never gave me the room I'd requested. I've stayed in contact with them on WhatsApp to try to resolve this, but they keep blaming me and deflecting instead of acknowledging their responsibility. In my view, the establishment violated Booking.com's terms and conditions, acted deceptively, discriminated against me, and created a hostile, unsafe environment for foreigners.

The location is good, and it might do for an unreserved overnight stop. But the room needs maintenance, the bathroom has mold, and the common areas have spiders and clearly haven't been cleaned. There's only one person handling guests, breakfast, and room service.

Service, the bed, and the location were good. But the place was either really noisy or poorly soundproofed. I could hear a Venezuelan couple arguing until 1 am. It felt like a carnival. Do people not realize where they are?

The atmosphere was nice and breakfast was pleasant. The beds were comfortable, and the towels, sheets, and bathrooms were clean. They provided bar soap and shampoo sachets too, so it was a good stay overall.
