Hostal El Gallego III El Quisco

On Friday, our last day, we wanted to get our car and leave, but there was nobody at reception at 9 am. We couldn’t get the car out, and no one replied to our WhatsApp messages. Someone eventually showed up around 10:30 am without explaining anything. We’d asked for a single room, but the mattress was awful, sagging with springs poking into our backs.

The staff were very friendly, and the location is good. The gates are locked at a certain time, which helps keep the cars secure. In our room, there was a bed, closet, little table, TV, sink, mini-fridge, and bathroom, but no towels or shampoo. A few things need attention: the shower curtain was too short and hung badly, the sink cabinet was crooked, the closet could use an update, and the bed’s headboard was broken.

We already had a reservation, but around 11:30 PM the owner told the police it was closed and had no rooms. When we arrived, nobody was at reception, and we knocked for an hour before going to the police station. The police said they’d already received complaints about the place, including from a woman who said she’d been scammed that same day. We were canceled at the last minute without any notice. Don’t go.

I only used the room for about six hours overnight, and there was no damage or incident that could justify keeping the security deposit. I paid CLP $10,000 by bank transfer and received only a very simple voucher as proof. As of December 9, 2025, it still hadn’t been returned. I’ve repeatedly tried phone and WhatsApp to get it back, but nobody responds. Oddly, they answer when I call from an unknown number, which makes it seem they’re avoiding my complaint. There was also a price discrepancy: my confirmed Booking.com reservation showed an approximate price of CLP $30,000 (approximately USD $30), but the hotel charged me CLP $37,000 on arrival, an unjustified increase over the agreed price.
