The included breakfast was quite nice and changed every day. I had a large, pleasant room with a pleasant bathroom, a kitchen, and nice towels. The owner was very friendly, though he doesn't speak English. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the city center, which is the main downside. I also kept getting static shocks from the bed sheets, so I ended up using my silk sleeping bag.

The reception isn't staffed all the time, so it's very hard to reach anyone early in the day. And the internet is really broken and extremely slow. When rainwater got into my room during the very short rainy season, the owner was rude when I raised the problem. He said this was normal and that he had other emergencies to deal with. His only concern was whether water was getting onto the bed. If it wasn't, he didn't consider it a problem. He also accused me of complaining about the internet, even though it was another guy. He only stopped when a woman who works here said I hadn't been the one to complain. The owner is very rude and has no interest in solving problems at his establishment. Worst hostel ever.

A good deal for the price.

The volcano view was a highlight, and the price worked well for a longer stay. It's a family business with a really warm welcome, and breakfast was better than I expected. Worth checking out.

The outdoor area at Hostal Milantu is lovely, with hammocks and tables where you can sit and take in that incredible volcano view. It was quiet at night too, which made it easy to sleep. The walk into the center took around ten minutes at most, and being a little outside it suited us well. Our room and bathroom were clean, tidy, and smelled fresh. There were plenty of blankets, a fan, towels, and other basics. In the shared kitchen we found a kettle, tea, coffee, and powdered milk. They also put out a small breakfast each morning. My fiancé and I appreciated it, especially on early tour days when we could take it with us. We didn't meet Sílvia, the owner, since she wasn't around, but her husband was very friendly. He gave us tips on things to do, tours, and local restaurants. I had a really pleasant stay and would recommend Hostal Milantu to anyone going to San Pedro.
