The Ocean Hostel

The rocky shore’s intertidal life was outstanding, and the birding was great too. Along the coast I saw lovely plants and lizards, plus a sea lion colony on the rocks. Bring binoculars! You can surf or paddle board here as well. The neighborhood has lots of friendly dogs, so earplugs came in handy. My room was clean, comfortable, and compact, and the host and staff were all really nice. They pointed me to their favorite local spots. I stayed for a couple of nights and loved it. Breakfast was great, and I arrived as a visitor but left feeling like a friend. It’s a laid-back place by the beach, with a great host and easy access to a beautiful coast.

Pablo is a really lovely owner. He spent time with us and showed us the nature nearby and another beach close by. The hostel is about 200 m from the beach. It’s new and still a work in progress, so some rooms aren’t fully finished, though they’re available to book and the beds made for a good night’s sleep. I absolutely recommend it.

During the month I spent in Chile, this was my favorite hostel. It’s a short walk from the beach, with bright, open common areas for hanging out and a great back patio for late nights. It feels like a little sanctuary for people who love relaxing by the sea. The owner is a rad dude. I had some of the most uplifting conversations with him that I’d had in months, maybe years. Este hostel es la mejor en chile, y el dueño del lugar es un hombre buenisimo. Seriously, it’s worth making a detour to see the place and meet him.

It’s a quiet hostel right on the beach. JP and the staff made my stay wonderful, and I’d come back anytime.
