I’d wanted to visit Rapa Nui since I was a little boy, and Explora made the trip amazing. The explorations were thoughtfully put together, the food was incredible, and the staff were wonderful. Mana, Jorge and Basti were our favorite guides. They’re great people. I used to think this was the sort of island you visit just once, but I’ll be back 1000% and staying at Explora Rapa Nui. I can’t imagine seeing Rapa Nui without staying there.

The expeditions were fantastic. Each afternoon the guides sat down with us, explained the choices for the next day and helped us pick what suited us. They were knowledgeable and happy to talk and answer questions, with options for different activity levels and needs. We saw, experienced and learned things we wouldn’t have found elsewhere. Explora’s staff are a level above. Everyone we met was pleasant, and a few people especially stood out. MAHA at guest services helped us in all kinds of ways and seemed able to make anything happen. Our guides TAVI, RICKY, MAEVA, JORGE and TITA each had their own style; following them and hearing their stories and instructions was a pleasure, and we learned so much. At meals and in the bar, JAVI, BERNARDO, MARIO, CYNTHIA, JENNY and BELEN were consistently friendly and kind. We looked forward to seeing them. LEO, NICO and EDUARDO were careful, friendly, professional drivers. We had a beautiful, elegant room overlooking the pool, and could watch the sunrise from bed. Food turned out to be a particular highlight: I’m very picky and had worried about having enough options, but every meal was delicious, there was lots to choose from, and special requests were easy. They went further than I expected to handle my food allergies. The bartenders were a lot of fun too, and we enjoyed a cocktail and lively conversation with them every evening. Their drinks were delicious, especially the old fashioned. From our airport pickup onward, everyone made us feel welcome and appreciated. Check-in was smooth, and we headed out on an adventure right away. I arrived with high expectations and they were all exceeded. It was my first Explora hotel, but it won’t be my last. For me, it’s the best way to see the island, with accommodations, food, expeditions and service worth every penny.

The way Explora immerses you in the destination makes the stay a travel experience in itself. I’ve visited a hundred countries and stayed in many properties, but I haven’t had anything quite like it. The comfort and style are wonderful, and it feels good knowing you’re respecting the land, its people and heritage. The expeditions, amenities, food and facilities are all spectacular. The staff are the real reason I’ll definitely return. I was lucky to meet Valentina, Hina, Tavi, Bernardo, Marce and Ximena, among others. From the bar to the guides, they brighten anyone’s day.
