Conviento de Lobos

The place was quiet when we visited in December, and our week there felt so cozy. The accommodation was clean and right by the beach, with the owners living nearby. I also took Karina’s Ashtanga classes every day. She’s skilled and kind, teaches in English and Spanish, and I’m really grateful for what I learned. Loved the whole stay.

Nasty place!

The location is the one thing this place has going for it. We booked five nights and left after the third. There’s no ventilation, and the air condenses so badly that I couldn’t sleep properly. The only window is in the bathroom and a stick props it open. The facilities are basic, and the price only makes sense because of the location. My bed was right beside a refrigerator that kept switching on and off every hour. There was hot water only when there weren’t many guests, and the place wasn’t somewhere I wanted to relax or spend more than an hour in the room. We spotted a little group of rabbits nearby on the first night, which was cute. The area also had rabbit and horse droppings. At 5:00 AM the next morning, we heard gunshots and animals crying. Management said it was fireworks 🤨, and we didn’t see the rabbits again. I came to unwind and am leaving with back pain and awful sleep.

The room was next to a parking lot and had no view. It looked good in the photos, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially if you have allergies. For the same money, you can find somewhere without damp rooms, with hot water and a better view, and without gunfire at 5 am. There are no windows in the rooms, so there’s no way to air them out. They were damp, with spiders and other insects. The shower was cold when there were lots of guests. And although the place talks about disconnecting, the refrigerator in the room made unbearable noise every hour. There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms, either. The main door to the rooms didn’t shut properly. Breakfast was fruit that was nearly rotten. There were gunshots from rabbit hunting right next to my room, and management did nothing, not even moving us. The room document advertised a free yoga room, but when I asked, they said I had to take paid classes with an instructor. That felt like completely false advertising.
