Hotel Alto Nevados

The location and view are great, and some of the bar and reception staff were friendly and helpful. But our stay had several frustrating problems. After a long trip, we were ready to check in, and the first staff member seemed friendly, though she wasn’t prepared to deal with our reservation details. We waited a long time before the manager came and sorted it out professionally. Our son’s room smelled bad because the bathroom ventilation was broken. When we asked for help, the receptionist brushed it off and joked that the smell was normal in a volcanic area, without trying to fix anything. We raised it with the manager again, and he moved our son to another room and was willing to help us during the stay. The restaurant staff also asked us every day to pay for dinner without checking with reception first. That felt disrespectful and careless. Room cleanliness was inconsistent as well. Be prepared to be patient and deal with issues, since the staff aren’t always ready to meet guests’ needs. We still enjoyed the mountain, but the staff’s lack of preparation made the vacation harder.

The meal plans are worth it, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location couldn’t be better. My one complaint is the shower water in the morning, which was lukewarm at best. If you shower in the morning instead of the evening, you’re going to have a bad time.

A family-friendly three-star hotel, mostly used by young families, and very well placed on the snow fields. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic, with a bed, wardrobe, and chair, but no safe or mini-fridge. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink, plus basic toiletries and towels. The open building is poorly designed, and the rooms aren’t soundproof. I had the worst sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel room. Guests coming back or staff arriving in the morning woke us at 11:30 pm, 12:30 am, 1:30 am, and 5:45 am every night. Don’t accept rooms ending in numbers under 4.

The place itself is awesome, but the service is awful for the high price. The cleaning is terrible, with towels and other items not replaced properly. When I requested things from room service, they didn’t bring what I’d asked for, and I had to keep chasing them. There’s no WiFi in the rooms, only in common areas, and after it failed, they didn’t fix it for several days.
