The hosts made our four nights easy and welcoming. They helped us choose places to visit and arrange taxis, and even drove us to the nearest metro station when we were heading to the airport. The internet was reliable, breakfast was very good, and the big kitchen let us cook and do laundry. There’s a small supermarket about a five-minute walk away, a larger one 35-40 minutes on foot or seven minutes by taxi, and a fruit and vegetable stand just across the way with typical Chilean foods. The place itself is peaceful, with deer, German Shepherds, horses and even a llama. We got to feed the animals with the owner, with a dog helping out too. A lovely spot for visiting the valley and enjoying wine. I’d happily recommend it to international travelers looking for somewhere different.

We drove an hour with our seven-month-old after Daniel Pirieto had taken our reservation privately, received a 100,000 CLP deposit, and confirmed the stay a week beforehand. After a woman spent about 30 minutes collecting our check-in details, Daniel arrived and told us he couldn’t host us because #booking.com bookings had priority and our room had to go to them. He offered to take us to another place, but didn’t even know its name. It was fully booked when we got there. Daniel didn’t apologize until my wife prompted him. This was our worst experience with unprofessional people. His failure to run the business, along with his rudeness and lack of courtesy, did lead us to discover San Alfonso in Cajon del Maipo, which was far better than spending time in his dry, empty place.

A nice place to unwind, and Farellones is only about an hour away.

After a long drive, we arrived with our down payment already made and our booking confirmed a week earlier. The owner's wife, I assume, began collecting our personal details. When it was time to pay the balance, Mr. Daniel appeared and realized he had overbooked and couldn't accommodate us. He blamed his employees for no apparent reason, even though he had handled our reservation himself and the other bookings came through booking.com. When I called the situation unprofessional, he said I should be grateful he was trying to find us another option. I had to snap at him, point out that blaming others didn't change what had happened, and insist he owed us an apology before he finally apologized for the inconvenience. Luckily, we found Casa Primal Lodge at the last minute. The staff and owners were wonderful, the food was heavenly, and the service was perfect. Casa de los Ciervos was a bad choice. And if you're expecting to see live Ciervos, they're dead: their heads are displayed in the garage/reception, where they park the cars.

There’s a lot of history to discover at Casa los Ciervos, and I highly recommend it. We were there around the weekend of February 14th, and the experience just kept getting better. The staff were warm and friendly, especially the owner, Daniel Prieto.
