We were given a very comfortable apartment at Hostal Lago Cóndor, with a king bed, a twin bed, dining space, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. It was clean and well organized. The bathroom had clean towels and a hair dryer, plus shampoo and soap enough for a couple of days. A pleasant stay.

I was glad to leave after six nights, and regret choosing this place. It felt rundown, stingy, and not at all service oriented, and I don't understand the 4.5-star rating. Recent reviews make it seem like the decline isn't a one-off. The shower kept running out of hot water and the pressure was sometimes so weak it felt like standing in rain. On my last night, the water was freezing and the radiator stopped working, so I went to bed miserably cold. The next morning there was still no heat or hot water, and I couldn't shower before leaving for my next destination. Housekeeping was another problem. My room was never cleaned during my stay, the bins were never emptied and got very full, and I had to ask twice for clean towels and also ask for toilet paper. The shower curtain was stained and dingy, and many blankets and pillows looked stained and gross, as if they weren't washed between guests. Daily housekeeping is advertised on the website, as is breakfast, but breakfast wasn't mentioned at check-in. No one told me I could get a boxed breakfast for an early tour either, despite leaving early on four of my five days. Reception seemed to be open whenever the owner felt like being there. At 10:30 one morning I went downstairs with towels and to ask for fresh ones, but the whole place was locked. WhatsApp was the only way to reach anyone, and a message might get a reply or might not. The hotel is away from town, but dogs right beside it barked nonstop late at night. Even earplugs didn't block them, and I was woken around midnight every night. This place is laughable as a bed and breakfast. I wish I'd booked somewhere else and thought about the money I'd wasted here, rather than what I saved compared with somewhere more expensive. I've never been happier to pack up and leave a hotel.

The cigarette smell in the lobby was strong when we arrived around 1 PM, despite the hotel's non-smoking claim. The owner said check-in was at 3 PM and showed no interest in helping. Then another guest, a white traveler checking in that same day, arrived after us. The owner greeted her warmly, took her straight to her room, and spent about ten minutes showing her the facilities. We were left standing in the lobby, completely ignored. Our room looked ready, with the bed made and everything set up, but the owner still wouldn't let us check in or even leave our luggage there. The treatment felt very different, and honestly seemed racist and discriminatory toward non-white guests. The owner was rude and dismissive throughout. This was one of the worst hotel experiences of our Patagonia trip, with very unprofessional service and an awful first impression. There are plenty of hotels in Puerto Natales, so I'd strongly suggest choosing somewhere else. If a 0/5 rating were available, that's what I'd pick!!

The location was nice, and my stay at Lago Condor Hostal was mostly good. But I had to ask three times to get stained bed sheets changed. The room wasn't cleaned daily, and I always had to request extra toilet paper. The walls are thin enough that you can easily hear noise from other rooms.

The breakfast was really poor, with no vegetarian option, and the facilities looked worse than they did in the pictures. The host was rude and unhelpful, and made us feel very uncomfortable. I don't know why they'd go into hospitality if they treat tourists this way, but it ruined our stay. I wouldn't recommend it.
