The location and surroundings are lovely, but the price, service, and facilities didn't feel like a match. We booked on the hotel's website, where the USD price was shown as "tax included." At payment, they said there would be an extra 19% tax because we were paying in CLP. There was a small note at the bottom of the confirmation email explaining this, which is fine, but then why does the website say tax is included? It was confusing. The young woman at the front desk also explained things unclearly and seemed very unprofessional, even though we spoke in Spanish. There are only stairs and no elevator, which is inconvenient if you're tired or injured. In our room, two huge ponchos were placed right in front of the bed. It felt strange, as though they were watching us sleep. The bathroom was tiny, too. We also had dinner at the hotel that day, and waited about 45 minutes for two dishes. I don't understand why a fish dish would take that long. After a long day trip, it was really upsetting. The one star for service goes to the Colombian waiter, who was very nice and cheerful. To get to the pool, you have to cross an outdoor corridor, which isn't practical when it might be windy or rainy.

The hotel is under a mile from the outskirts of Puerta Natales and felt nicely upscale for this area. We ate dinner and breakfast there, and both meals were very good. Breakfast was an all-you-can-eat buffet with lots of options. Hot showers and plenty of water stations were available. The pool house has a nice view, and we enjoyed the hot tub. They apparently require an appointment, but nobody was there when we tried it. Sessions are limited to 30 minutes.

Remota is a distinctive, innovative building that's hard to describe, and quite nice inside. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the food excellent, and both the pool and hot tub look out over gorgeous views. We'd definitely recommend it as the best appointed lodging in town. It's a solid half-hour walk from downtown, so dining anywhere beyond the hotel takes a bit of effort. Still, the route is flat, follows the waterfront, and is actually quite pleasant.

The staff were helpful and offered great ideas for restaurants and things to do. Drinks from the bartenders were wonderful, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Such an interesting hotel, designed beautifully to sit within the landscape and make a visual impression.

The staff were so thoughtful, attentive, and welcoming, and made our stay at this special lodge wonderful. My partner and I can't imagine choosing anywhere else. The architecture, made of wood, glass, and stone, is unique and beautiful. Modern, rustic, and cozy all at once, the lodge sits on a hillside over a picturesque fjord, about a 20-minute walk from Puerto Natales. Our room was spotless and spacious. We loved the spa, with its infinity pool, two hot tubs, and lovely sauna. The main building's restaurant was top-notch, with incredibly delicious breakfast and dinner. We especially liked the guanaco carpaccio appetizer. We also booked two full-day trips into Torres del Paine National Park through Remota. We expected group outings, but they were private hikes for just the two of us, with a driver and two knowledgeable young guides. They were wonderful company and gave us technical and emotional support on steep hills and river crossings. The trips are expensive, but worth every peso. For a boat trip to see glaciers, though, there's no need to book private guides through the hotel. It's much more affordable to book with Howlanders in Puerto Natales. We'd read lots of negative reviews mentioning slippery bathtubs, but a grip mat is provided. Others mentioned the unheated corridor between the three buildings, though it has amazing views of a field full of rabbits. You can't turn down the room heat, so we opened the window a little. To reach the spa you have to walk outside, but we changed in the warm sauna. Those minor differences from the hotels you're probably used to shouldn't keep you from enjoying what this place does so well.
