Viva Chile Hostal Puerto Varas

It's close to the center, but service and attention were lacking. There was only half a roll of paper towel in the bathroom, no lighter for the kitchen gas stove, and no receptionist service on Saturday or Sunday because it was the weekend. We called and messaged three different numbers to extend our stay and got just one reply at the end of the day. No sense of responsibility at all.

The location is handy, near the bus station and town center, and the service was nice. They let us check in early and leave our bags. But water was coming through the walls and floor because the rooms aren't insulated properly, and the thin walls made it noisy. They were working on the roof above us while we were staying there, which didn't help with the noise. Maybe it will stop the damp walls in the future?

They let us check in early, and the location is good. But it was basically a bed in a tin shack, more like a very basic hostel, with no towels provided. There was mold in the bathroom, and loud construction was going on directly overhead all day while they replaced the roof.

I got there a couple of minutes before 22:00, the end of check-in time, but reception was empty. I tried to reach them on WhatsApp and got no answer. Some guests saw me waiting outside and let me in. They said the receptionist had left 30 minutes earlier. Then the owner messaged me on WhatsApp, saying they could see me on camera and that I should leave. They said check-in ended at 22:00, so I couldn't check in. I was unhappy with the lack of service and being left with nowhere to go late at night. If you book here, make sure you arrive with plenty of time.
