Hostal al Fin del Mundo

The hostel is in an excellent location, has a few pleasant spots to lounge, and the WhatsApp contact was very quick to respond, thank you. Parking takes some planning if you have a vehicle: street parking is paid during the day but free overnight, and there’s free parking along the coast two or three blocks away during the day. It’s a very basic place. The room was okay, with a comfortable bed but stained carpet. When we arrived, the sheets had a bunch of someone else’s hair on them, and the bathrooms were dirty and had hair too. I expected it to be cleaner, even for the price.

We got to check in a bit early, which was great, and had a private room upstairs. Andrés was great. I think the other fellow was Rodríguez, though we only dealt with Andrés. The place has a really good vibe, and the kitchen is well stocked with shared spices and lots of cooking gear. Breakfast was included, but everything had artificial sweeteners, which I don’t believe in. There was still bread, a toaster, and instant coffee, so all was well.

The hostel is handy for the bus station, and the people working there were very nice, though none of them spoke English while I was staying there. It has personality, but could use some renovation, especially in the bathrooms. One toilet had a broken shower head, another wouldn’t flush, and we couldn’t get warm water. There seemed to be human waste in the toilets all the time. I’ve heard there are better hostels in town at the same price.

The rooms were comfortable, the staff were very accommodating, and the hot showers were good. It’s a lovely place, with a pool table surrounded by plants and lots of natural light. La Luna restaurant, right across from the hostel, is also ace. Thanks for a nice stay :)
