The staff were pleasant and even offered us a small discount for the night when our plans changed. Latam airlines moved our flight, so we had to leave at 7PM instead of the next morning to catch another flight from Santiago. Not many hotels would have done that. The colonial-style Hotel Isla Rey Jorge is downtown Punta Arenas, a five-minute walk from the main Plaza de Armas and about ten minutes from the seaside promenade. Our room was clean and spacious enough, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included, but our tours started early, so we only took lunch boxes to go.

The room was fine for an overnight stop, but it was much too warm for us and there was no safe. Breakfast was okay, though everything tasted so sweet.

I liked staying in the old building and its rooms, and the breakfast was good. Still, I can see why some guests are disappointed: the rooms may need renovation and more attention to cleaning, and I’d expect something different from a four-star hotel. The location is perfect, the building is beautiful, and I was greeted so nicely. They checked me in early and helped with my luggage when they saw me on the street.

It’s a fairly big hotel, with cozy, comfortable rooms. Mine looked out onto the street, the service was friendly, and the bathtub worked.

The beds were cozy, the shower worked well, and breakfast was decent. The staff were very nice, and everything was an easy walk away. It did get uncomfortably hot, though, and there was no thermostat to adjust it.
