The room opened onto a sunny courtyard and smelled fresh. Everything was simple and a little rustic, but clean and in good shape. There’s a guest kitchen, a comfy indoor dining space, and the shower had pretty good hot water, though I’d have preferred it hotter. Rooms with a shared bathroom are 25,000 a night. I negotiated 40,000 for two nights, which I think is about as cheap as you’ll find in Putre. Nights get very cold here, so ask for an extra blanket. I used all the blankets, my clothes, and a sleeping bag liner.

The proprietor was friendly by Altiplano standards, but there wasn’t much else to recommend it. The breakfast was just bread and ham. It’s a very basic hostel for a price that didn’t feel basic. No WiFi, no heating, barely any insulation, and freezing nights.

Putre has plenty to do and belongs on the list of places to visit, though it’s less developed than other spots. Hostel Cali makes a good base for exploring. It’s in a quiet location, with simple, clean accommodation.

Mrs. Dolanda was a wonderful host, very attentive to keeping everything clean. The shared dining area was especially tidy, and breakfast was included and quite filling. The location is great, too. The rooms can feel chilly, but the warm beds more than make up for it, haha. I’d recommend staying here. In Putre, I’d also suggest trying the pizzas at La Flama Andina, hehe.
