The place is easy to book with, and the hotel staff were friendly. One useful detail: they sell petrol, which matters since Putre has no petrol station. For the drive in, take the north road. Google sent us down the south road, which was rough, and we were glad to have a 4x4. We stayed in August and the rooms were spacious and heated. Breakfast was great, and the panderia on Lynch street is good. The pizza is worth trying too.

The owners were among the kindest people I’ve met. Our rental car gave us a lot of trouble, and they quickly arranged a driver from their town to take us to NP Lauca. When the rental company didn’t help, they even offered to find a mechanic. Q'antati itself is basic but clean, with a nice view and a great breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Putre and NP Lauca. A great stop in northern Chile! :)

We arrived after a four-hour drive to find the hotel closed and seemingly neglected. The owner wasn’t there; after we called, she sent an employee, but he didn’t come to us until 4:30 PM, an hour and a half after check-in was supposed to start. We left without even seeing him. Breakfast was available when we got up, but there was no other food service and nobody around then either. Our room looked onto gas tanks, with paint peeling from the humidity. The carpet was rippling, there was no heating, and hot water was only available from 6 PM to 8 PM. We were the only guests. There are better options in Putres.

No TV in the room, which suited this quiet place. The showers and beds were very good, and the living room was clean, with a fireplace. Heating was excellent. I couldn’t find another place with central heating.

Putre gets quiet early, with everyone asleep by 10:00 a.m., so plan for that. We came at night and found parts of the road in poor repair; arriving in daylight would have been better. We stayed one night before continuing to Lake Chungara. It’s a lovely, cold place, and very picturesque.
