Atacama Lodge Rukazen

Bruno the cat was a highlight of the trip, and we loved unwinding with him around the lodge. Ivan even noticed us at the pool and brought over towels. The pool was a refreshing way to cool off after exploring the desert all day, and breakfast each morning was nutritious. We'd stayed a week at Rukazen Lodge and already miss it. We barely spoke Spanish, but Google Translate worked really well for most conversations with the patient hosts. They gave us great advice on roads and parking for hikes and viewpoints. When our car got a flat on our first day in San Pedro, I messaged Ivan on whatsapp. He suggested getting it repaired the next day, took us to a nearby mechanic so we wouldn't get scammed, then drove us back and helped put the tire on. That was incredibly kind. I'd absolutely recommend the lodge and would come back!

We got help with our tire, planning excursions around Chile, and even had the pool set up for us. The hosts were so helpful throughout our stay, and we also got to spend time with their cat Bruno. Breakfast in the morning gave us energy for exploring the Chilean desert. They exceeded our expectations, and I'd recommend this lodge without hesitation.

It's a very quiet spot, about 10 minutes from downtown San Pedro. Ivan and Araceli were wonderful, attentive hosts, and the service was great. Highly recommend!

This was my worst hotel experience. We arrived at noon and there was nobody at reception, so we waited an hour. There was no hot shower: the only employee there tried several times to fix it, and I eventually got two minutes of hot water before it turned cold again. Mosquitoes kept us up all night because the window wouldn't close. We told the employee, but he didn't say anything and left. The room had no WiFi, only reception did. At 50 euros a night, we expected WiFi throughout the hotel.
