Hostal Kirckir - Hostel

The rooms were comfortable and the toilets stayed clean, but the place felt badly run. I could never tell whether the woman in charge was the owner or manager, and she often seemed unsure what was happening. She'd have a new batch of questions whenever we came through the door. They also tried to charge my friend 19% for booking an extra night within Chile, then dropped it after she challenged them. Pretty average overall.

The room was cosy, and the staff were friendly. It's just a short walk to the main street's shops and restaurants. There was no air conditioning, though, and the fan only worked now and then depending on how the plug was adjusted. Breakfast was basic, but they made scrambled eggs to order at no extra cost. There's a pool too, though I didn't get to use it. I wouldn't stay again.

Good staff and a decent place for a night or two. The beds are nice and the location is good. Just know that the bathroom and kitchen are a long way from the room, across the outdoor area. If it's raining, or has rained, your feet will get wet. A pretty typical hostal otherwise.

I wound up here after my bus was delayed and I needed a night in San Pedro. Other places were farther from the terminal. My room cost CLP $20,000 and had one large bed and one small one. The wifi was okay, and I liked the breakfast. The receptionists were kind, kept my belongings all day until my night bus, and let me use the facilities to clean up after sandboarding. It was expensive, like other places in San Pedro, but otherwise a nice stay.
