Rafa's House

I arrived with a confirmed booking reference and was told they were full. The owner offered to move me to another hostel he owned nearer the center, then drove off without me. The new place, 420 hostal, was unfinished. The dorm had no lights, just two power sockets for eight beds, and the poor carpentry meant the windows and doors didn’t open properly. I was promised Wi-Fi, but there wasn’t any, and there were no lockers. The smell of weed at reception was overwhelming. The receptionist had knuckledusters and a butterfly knife lying around casually. All running water, even for toilets, was shut off from 2200-0700. The bed and mattress were clean and comfortable, but I doubt that would last once they were actually open and getting use. I got a refund after one night and moved to a much better hostel, where I’m far happier. When I tried to check out, nobody was at reception, so I had to bang on doors until the receptionist woke up. He’d been partying all night in the bar next door. There wasn’t a single enjoyable part of my stay, and I wish I could give it zero stars. The owner’s reply only summed up the lack of customer service. The room and front door keys didn’t work when they were given to me. They were badly cut, and even staff couldn’t get them to work. I’ve also attached a picture of the drug paraphernalia left in plain view at reception.

It’s a lovely, peaceful hostel, about a 15-minute walk from the center. The staff are friendly, there’s clean drinking water, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the shower has hot water.

I really liked staying here. It’s clean, the staff are super nice, and the surroundings are lovely. I enjoyed being outside the center, since it meant avoiding some of the crowds on the main streets. You can book tours through the hostel too, which is pretty chill. 100% recommendation.

The place was great, with cozy beds and relaxed people. If I’m remembering right, the hostel is now called Rafa’s House. What bothered me was being told card payment wasn’t possible when the device was right there. The guy seemed too lazy to set it up, which was a burden when most ATMs in town weren’t working. All in all, I can recommend the place.
