It’s a sweet little place with a family feel, and we really enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is quiet, while plaza Ñuñoa and its bars and restaurants are an easy walk away. A bus ride to plaza Italia takes about 30 minutes. The rooms don’t block sound very well, since it’s more like sharing a flat, though you do have your own bathroom.

The staff were cordial, the breakfast was very good, and I liked the decor. But my room was a bit cold and the TV picture was poor. The bed setup was really bad: it was a 1.5-person bed with a two-person mattress placed on top, so I’d start sliding off as I got near the edge. It was very expensive, and in the end I felt it wasn’t worth what I paid.

Casa Muriel’s owners are unforgettable, and I’m in love with this place. It’s ideal for a solo break, couples, or families, with the layout giving people who want privacy some separation from families with children. I wish I’d discovered it sooner. There’s greenery and flowers, water running all day, comfortable beds, bright rooms, and some rooms have a little private garden. The heating was just right, and the art and books give it a lovely feel. One room has Neruda’s poetry, and the 20 love poems illustrated by Mario Toral. It’s peaceful outside and just a few blocks from Plaza Ñuñoa and essential shops, including pharmacies. The bicycles were in perfect condition. The cleanliness was impeccable, and breakfast was better than at a 4-star hotel.

A welcoming, family-style place that’s great for relaxing, and it’s very close to Plaza Ñuñoa. You can’t come to Santiago without seeing it, you’ll be amazed!
