The courtyard and pool were the best parts, and the location was convenient. Beyond that, our stay was a letdown, and I don't understand the 4-star rating. The hotel seemed aimed more at locals, as we hardly saw other tourists. Breakfast choices were very limited. It might work if all you need is a basic place to sleep and you're not fussy, but I've stayed in better-kept hostels. It needs a major update to merit four stars. Our room was cramped with dated furniture, and the bed had just one pillow. Instead of a proper duvet, there was a blanket between two sheets. The towel and shower curtain were stained, the water pressure was extremely weak, and the room was uncomfortably hot because the AC didn't work properly. The curtains didn't cover the whole window, leaving very little privacy.

We spent a full week at Bonoparte and would definitely return. The atmosphere was warm, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Sofia gave us clear, detailed instructions on where to go and how to get there. I highly recommend it!

The quaint, historic-looking exterior is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. During our first stay, the bed was rock hard and the sheets felt like cardboard. Weddings are held there, and guests were allowed to party until 2 am, keeping hotel guests awake. I'd already booked a second night. When I asked for a softer bed and sheets, I was given an unclean room, with human hair all over the bathroom and every coil in the bed noticeable. I pointed out the dirty bathroom to the receptionist. She showed my partner and me two other rooms, but both had hair throughout the bedroom and bathroom as well. The hotel wouldn't refund us, so we waited on the spare bed while the receptionist and cleaner swept and cleaned the room at 11 pm. It wasn't good value for money. Looking back, I would have booked a better known hotel brand.

The location is great, but the place is showing its age and didn't match the photos or description. There was no coffee or tea in the room, no sofa, and it was only just clean enough. Toilet paper is rationed. The shower and curtain had mildew, and the towels looked dingy. I'm not sure they know about bleach.
