Hotel Magnolia

We had a suite and a deluxe room for two nights in April 2026. Both were clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with buffet items as well as made-to-order choices. The staff were the best part, professional, friendly, and ready to go out of their way to help. Alessandro, the manager, is a delight. We appreciated being allowed a late checkout because our flight was late at night. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

I’m staying in a standard superior room on the 5th floor, and it’s beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and extremely clean. The hotel’s design is great and doesn’t feel dated. The lobby and downstairs may not feel refined enough for a luxury boutique hotel, but the rooms more than make up for it. My room faces a quiet residential street, so there’s no nighttime noise. It has an Nespresso machine, plenty of free bottled water, fluffy white towels, and branded Molton Brown toiletries. They change the sheets every night, which isn’t common these days, even at established five-star properties. Service has been outstanding, warm, considerate, and professional. Thank you, Fernando. I handed in laundry on Saturday afternoon, though at first they weren’t sure they could take it because apparently there’s no laundry service on Sundays. Instead of saying no, they said they’d try, and got it done the same day in about four hours. I was impressed and grateful. Breakfast was okay, and dinner was great, though the servers were on their phones for most of it. My only four-star points are the location and shower setup. The hotel is very central, on the city center side and a couple of blocks from Lastaria. Locals say that’s better than being in the middle of Lastaria, but there are no restaurants or bars right next door. If you don’t feel like walking a couple of blocks in the evening, there’s nowhere on your street to grab dinner except the hotel. The shower shares an open space with the toilet, with no door, and the faucet and toiletry caddy are on the toilet side. When the water runs, it sprays all over the floor, and there’s no way to prevent it. These drawbacks are minor, and I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The staff were outstanding, consistently warm, kind, and helpful. Still, for the price, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The property didn’t meet what I’d expect from high-end American hotels: the rooms felt tired, the glass bathroom offered little privacy, and our street-facing room was noisy at night and too bright in the morning because the blackout blinds were weak. It’s centrally located and convenient, but the area doesn’t feel particularly upscale. We saw several comparable hotels in the nearby business district for a fraction of the price, and regret not choosing one of them.

We weren’t told in advance that the location had changed, and only found out after we were seated on the terrace. During the evening, staff paid little attention, weren’t professional, and couldn’t give proper wine recommendations. The sound system quality was poor, and the music didn’t suit a dining experience. The menu also differed from what we’d been shown when making the reservation. The champagne was flat and the glass was filled so high that it spilled. An establishment presenting itself as cool or premium should treat guests with basic respect and offer service that supports that image. Our experience fell well below reasonable expectations. I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone who values quality, service, and professionalism. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps improve its standards.
