NH Collection Plaza Santiago

The location was the only good part for me. The hotel is sold as five-star, but the room and amenities felt more mid-range: old, with no refined feel. The breakfast buffet was poor, and there weren't other good food options onsite. There was loud music coming from a speaker near the elevators all night, and my room was close by. It was piercing enough to keep me from falling asleep. I went to the front desk twice in person to ask them to turn it down or stop it. Both times they said they'd do something, but nothing changed. Some front desk staff also didn't speak English. There's nothing wrong with speaking only the local language, but I'd expect a five-star hotel to accommodate English speakers. This was some of the worst service I've had in recent memory. I was very disappointed and hope the property makes the necessary improvements.

Paul at reception really came through for us, arranging round-trip transport to a vineyard at the last minute. We appreciated that a lot. The hotel is also in a great central spot, steps from Cenco Costanera and an easy walk to the Tobalaba subway. Breakfast had a full spread, which was a great way to start the day. The rooms are a little dated, but they're spacious and very comfortable. A solid stay, and I'd definitely recommend NH Collection Plaza Santiago.

The location, internet and cleanliness were okay, but the rooms still need work. The breakfast was basic: scrambled eggs, vegetables, watermelon in two colors, strawberries and a very good creamy cheese. There were lots of sugary cookies and sweets that I found bad for gastric acidity. They could offer combinations with avocado, hummus and beans, but instead the shelves were filled with those cookies. For a five-star hotel, this felt like a three-star breakfast at most. I also felt misled about the price. Booking showed USD 1,043, but reception added VAT because I didn't have a debit card. At two other hotels in Chile, one in Rapa Nui and one in Santiago, I paid the Booking price without any issue. I didn't understand why a credit card was required. The service expectations felt like they were for a seven-star hotel, even though this isn't a five-star property. I gave it three out of five with some leniency. Please take the feedback into account and improve the services. We came 15,000 km to spend money in your country.

We booked three nights and ended up escaping in under 24 hours. The floors were peeling and bubbling vinyl, and my socks turned black in less than 20 minutes. The AC basically didn't work, so the rooms stayed over 75 degrees. In both rooms our showers wouldn't drain, and in one, the sliding door barely opened without feeling like it might break. The front desk wouldn't answer the phone, even when we called from our room. Staff seemed focused on turnover, and most of the time there was nobody at the bar. This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. Don't get fooled into choosing it as a budget option, you get what you pay for. There are great Airbnbs nearby, and the W is close too if you want this area. We were fooled and had to pay for other accommodation in desperation. Please don't put yourself through that.
