What I’ll remember most is how Enrique treated us like family when we badly needed help. We’d driven from Argentina to Chile and reached Talca at 8:00 PM, tired and without a reservation or Chilean currency. We knew nobody and didn’t know the city, and finding somewhere to stay turned out to be much harder than we expected. Other places either had no rooms or wouldn’t take us without money. It got dark, we couldn’t exchange money, and even parking was hard to find. We felt unwelcome as foreigners. After three hours of searching, with little hope left, we rang the bell at Hostal del Sur. The owner was there, heard that we were from Argentina and had no Chilean pesos, and said we could stay that night and pay him the next day. We were so relieved. If you’ve been in that situation, you’ll understand. It’s a simple, quiet, family-run hostel. Enrique was kind and hospitable, and made us feel at home. I also think it mattered that he was there that day. He knows what it took to build what he has and how to look after it and help it grow. If you ask whether I’d return to Chile, I’d say no, unless I met kind people like this man who made us feel welcome.

We stayed just one night, and Enrique still went out of his way to sort out several problems for us. The service was excellent. Highly recommended.

We were worn out from the trip, and they were very accommodating about letting us check in at 1 a.m. The location is great too. Excellent service, 100% recommended.
