Hostal Buenaventura

Thankfully, we stayed just one night. Our room faced the entrance hall, so we could hear people walking past and talking. The floorboards creaked a lot as we walked around the old house. The bathroom was cramped between the toilet and wall, and the shower had very weak, lukewarm water, almost cold. Breakfast was okay, but the stay felt expensive for what we got.

The neighborhood is quiet and well lit, and parking is behind a gate with room for about 5 to 6 cars. Staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. The breakfasts were filling and delicious, though a little repetitive. The house has an old-fashioned feel, and the rooms are adequate and cleaned every day, including the bathroom. It's a bit far from the center, about a 30-minute walk, but strolling along the waterfront makes the distance more pleasant. There's also a bus stop outside the hostel, and the center is a 10-minute walk away.

Breakfast was generous and really good, and the service was great. The room was comfortable, and it's a good place to stay. Our room faced the main road, though, so we could hear traffic. If noise makes it hard for you to sleep, you might not get a good night's rest. I recommend the hostel.

It was clean and tidy, but $120 for two nights felt expensive. Breakfast tasted good, though it was the same every day and got boring. What bothered us most was the management's lack of attention to noise and smells. On our second night we practically couldn't sleep. The doorbell kept ringing through the night, with people asking for our room, and reception staff shouting that there wasn't one available. Other guests were barbecuing in the small patio that night, and smoke from the barbecue and cigarettes kept drifting into our room for quite a while.
