Hostal Costamía

The location is great, just around the corner from the bus terminal, but my family and I wouldn't stay here again. The basics were missing: no towels in the shared bathrooms, and one bathroom had neither a trash can nor soap. Our room had no key, which felt risky, and only two outlets. One was for the TV near the ceiling, so it was hard to use in a room with four beds. The beds and other furniture were in very poor condition.

At first glance, the hostel seems fine. The kitchen looks fully equipped, but they won't let you cook even a pot of noodles. You can only reheat food you've brought in the microwave, or heat water for tea or coffee. I've stayed at other hostels and never been stopped from cooking. Apart from that, it seems fine at first glance.

A few staff members were attentive, but that was about the only good part. The owner seemed completely incompetent, and when things went wrong, like the missing TV remote, nobody showed much interest or offered a solution. The bathroom faucets were faulty and the shower drain was in poor shape. It’s a shame, because this turned what should have been a relaxing part of an otherwise wonderful trip into a bad experience.

We had booked 20 days ahead, but by the time we got to the hostel the rooms were already occupied. They asked us to pay extra on top of what we’d paid when making the reservation. There wasn’t even toilet paper in the bathrooms.
