Hotel New Asturias

Last time we came, they opened the door when we rang, and we were able to go upstairs and ask for help. This time, a Peruvian woman treated us very badly. We think she refused to open the door out of spite, since we’d already visited once. We’d sent a WhatsApp message and got no reply about arranging an appointment, so I wondered if we had to book in person. But when we arrived, she spoke to me over the intercom and wouldn’t even let us in to ask. She demanded everything in a very unpleasant way. When we said we wanted a room, she rudely told us there were none. I hope they improve their customer service. It’s incredibly unpleasant dealing with someone who seems to have such bad intentions.

The room had everything we needed and was spotless, with a well-stocked minibar and a kettle plus complimentary coffee and tea. The bar was fantastic and the prices very reasonable. Reception gave us excellent service from the moment we arrived. I highly recommend it!

The staff are good, the place welcomes pets, and security is good. I’ve stayed here three times, and it seems the owners may have changed recently. Breakfast used to be delivered to the room, so you could eat privately and in peace. Now you have to go outside the hotel to get it or you miss out. The option I chose also included lunch. They said there were two menus, but when we arrived they said there was only one, and we had to pay extra for the other. They used to charge for luggage storage, but now they do.

We were given a lovely room with a view of the city center, and breakfast was plentiful, with the option to have it brought to the room. The staff were excellent, and the rooms were well kept and generally clean. It’s centrally located in Viña del Mar, near several interesting places. I came as part of a tour package and was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was. The bed in our room was a bit noisy. Since it’s so central, coming back very late felt a little unsafe, though we did return late during our week there and nothing happened.
