Right next to Kuanzhai Alley, the hotel has a fantastic location. The rooms are spacious, though the TV is on the small side. The green-themed bathroom feels out of place with the Chinese design. The restaurant works well for entertaining friends: its private room has a sofa and tea sets, making for a delightful atmosphere. The food is average, but the overall vibe is worth experiencing. The cuisine is said to be in line with the capital’s imperial banquet cuisine, reserved for important guests, which adds a touch of prestige.

We went next door instead. We had planned to come in for afternoon tea on Sunday, but the bell boy, who looked over 70, was unwelcoming at the entrance and directed us to the ground-floor cafe, where there were no customers. The cafe staff were arrogant too. A dog's bark serves as a warning,A loyal minister's remonstrance warns the ruler.

The rooms were expensive but well appointed, though they still weren't ready at 4pm. There were also drainage problems with the plumbing.

The rooms are exceptional and rival the best. One of the best hotels in the world.

It's in a historic cluster of Chengdu, with a luxury Chinese touch to the hotel.
