The room, bed and toilet were all fine. We got to the hotel from the airport around 1am after a tiring flight, then left at 8.30am, so being close to Tianfu Airport made for a quick check-in nearby. Breakfast had limited options, but it was okay depending on what suits you. There's a convenience store open past 2am, a BBQ restaurant next door, and lots of food stalls operating from trucks and scooters across from the hotel.

We were a family of 4 and booked two rooms. Both were very clean, seemed new and were quite spacious, with shower cabins in the bathrooms. Breakfast was much better than I'd expected for this hotel category. HIE Chengdu Tianfu Sq is right in the city center. Tianfu Square, Chengdu's main square at the geographical center, is a 10 min walk away, and the magnificent People's Park is 10 min in the other direction. I'd recommend it for the excellent location and unbeatable affordable price for the quality.

The staff we dealt with were all polite and helpful, and the free breakfast, unlimited free water bottles and self-service laundry were practical. But there are just two washers and two dryers for the whole building, which made doing laundry difficult. We chose the hotel for convenience, but with two young children we didn't want to walk the longer distance to Tianfu Square Metro station, so we had to use Didi. The bigger problem was cleanliness: the room, carpet and furniture weren't clean, and the couch was stained enough that we avoided sitting on it. Because of the room's condition, we cut our stay short and moved to another hotel closer to Tianfu Square. Maybe other guests had a better experience, but we wanted to share ours to help future travelers decide. We wouldn't stay here again.

Breakfast was the one real bright spot, better than what I’ve had at hotels of a similar level. The room was comfortable, though quite dark. Being in Chengdu’s third zone meant the area felt dull at night, even on New Year’s Eve. Staff weren’t polite and couldn’t speak English. The room service was poor too: the hair conditioner hadn’t been refilled when I checked in, and after I called, I waited a long time for them to bring another bottle.

We had an amazing stay in the Family room. It was really big, with a king-sized bed and a single bed. The bathroom was spacious and clean, had useful amenities, and even an automatic toilet seat. There’s a gym and laundry room open 24 hours, and breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:00.
