Yangshuo Resort

I've visited three times, from 2012 to 2017. The riverside location is excellent, and the grounds are huge, with a garden where you can walk along the river and enjoy a great view. The rooms are a bit worn, but they were clean and comfortable. The Chinese restaurant was good, and breakfast was adequate.

The view is so beautiful that you could spend a whole day relaxing on the property. I liked reading on the balcony daybed, and the high-end single room we had was lovely, with the rooms generally in good order. Repairs after the floods still had parts of the property under construction. It wasn't perfect: the water closet door could have been better.

The rooms are spacious and clean, with a big bathroom and a large sunbed on the balcony. The restaurant food is delicious, too. The hotel sits in a park by the Yulong River, right in the heart of Yangshuo. Cars aren't allowed into the park, so you have to rent an electric motorcycle.

A calm river and distance from noisy roads and the city center make this a peaceful place to stay. There isn't much to do besides punting, walking, and taking time to think, which suits you if serenity is what you want.
