Check Inn HK - Hostel

I had a good stay here, and the price was affordable for solo travellers. The dorm I used was for women only, and the bedroom and bathroom were clean. The AC was cool and the staff friendly. The flush might not have been working quite right, though. Since it's on the main street, you can still hear traffic. Laundry and other services are available, just ask the staff. The location is very convenient, right on the main street.

There was no room service, and I didn't ask for any. The service I got was adequate for my four-night stay. The room was just enough for two, and the bathroom was clean with properly working hot water. Towels and toiletries weren't provided, so bring your own. The location was convenient, near several bus stops, a tram stop, and the Wan Chai and Exhibition Center MTR stations.

The common area is good, and coffee, tea, and water are always available. I nearly forgot that staying in a hostel means bringing your own shampoo and soap. They do provide a small towel, and you can buy the other things you need cheaply enough on top of the hotel price.

Avoid this place. It was easily my worst hostel stay, and I've travelled all over the world. I initially liked the atmosphere and sense of togetherness, and chose company here over a private Airbnb that cost the same or less. I was staying while dealing with the news that my father was on his deathbed. Then one of the two very rude, unprofessional people at the front desk, a woman, started treating me badly. She said my luggage stunk and that I wasn't welcome anymore. They also accused me of drinking too much and being rude, even though other guests were drinking and playing instruments. They wouldn't let me book again, leaving me to find somewhere else over Christmas and New Year. When I contacted the owner, a male front desk worker seemed to pretend to be him and backed his colleague's decision to throw me out and refuse me another stay. I'd also left my laptop charger behind, but they wouldn't search for more than two or three minutes and kept pressuring me to leave. I said I'd post a negative review. They told me they didn't care because they'd already made too much money there and my review would mean nothing. The high ratings on hostel websites don't reassure me, as many seem to have been written by the owners or staff.
