Epoch Hotel

For a budget stay in a central part of Hong Kong, this is an easy recommendation. Ladies Street is just a stone's throw away, and Mongkok station's B2 exit is nearby. Getting here from the airport by subway is fairly hassle-free, though you do need to change lines twice. Staff were friendly, and the location is excellent. Family rooms are available. Each floor has about four rooms, three tiny ones and one family-sized room.

The front desk staff were very helpful, and the hotel is conveniently close to eateries and the MTR. The room itself was in rough shape: the USB charger holder came off the wall when I pulled my cable, which felt dangerous. There were gaps in the floor tiles, a slight cigarette smell in the room, a foul bathroom odor, and bathroom floor planks coming apart. With young children traveling with us, all that wear and tear made this a poor choice. Housekeeping also made the stay worse. We had to make do with two towels for all six nights. One night my baby girl soiled a towel, so I called for a replacement, but the housekeeper wanted to charge HKD50 even after I explained what had happened.

The bedsheet wasn't as clean as it should have been, but the hotel is fairly spacious compared with some others. It's very conveniently located, about 0.3m from Mong Kok Station. I'd stay here again for its strategic location. :)

A comfortable business hotel with clean rooms and a very convenient location, easy to reach by MTR or airport bus. The rooms are a little small by North American standards, but they have all the essentials. The price is very good for the cleanliness and location. A good recommendation.
