Mini Central

The room is pretty much a closet with an attached shower, but it was affordable, and Hong Kong is very expensive. The location is great and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was surprised the shower towels were paper, but they worked much better than I expected.

I stayed one night, and the small room was fine for that. The next morning, the housekeeper came straight in without knocking. I called the hotel about it, and the staff member said it was only my word that the cleaner hadn't knocked, instead of saying he'd check. Pretty unbelievable response. This happened the morning of 21 Jan 2026.

The climb up to the hotel and carrying luggage up and down a flight of stairs can be a pain. Hong Kong rooms are small, as you'd expect, and the towels weren't good. I brought my own, so it wasn't a problem for me. The bathroom was my main concern: the toilet is behind clear glass, so there's no privacy. Still, it's a handy base in Central, close to good food spots. The reception team were accommodating and let us store our luggage. Check-in and checkout were easy, and there was no wait for the elevator. I liked that the hotel has its own building, unlike many budget places in Hong Kong that share space with several hostels. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, and the price and service were good.

The room was basically just a bed, with enough space to walk to the bathroom on one side and the other side pushed against the wall. There isn't even a place to sit, and during our first two nights we couldn't eat properly when we had to eat in the room. The shower area is so cramped that a large person would have a hard time using it. Also, the bathroom is divided from the bedroom by see-through glass, which is a strange setup if you're sharing with anyone other than your significant other. There are no flip-flops, shampoo or other free toiletries. Towels are disposable, and you have to ask the front desk for a new one every day. We were miserable throughout the stay. The steep stairs and uphill walk are another reason I wouldn't recommend this place if those are difficult for you. I don't understand the glowing reviews beyond the fact it's close to the main street. Booking here was a big mistake. I'm not coming back.
