Ovolo Central

The front desk staff were generally pleasant and professional. The problems we ran into weren’t their fault, but the stay was still a letdown compared with Ovolos in Australia. The photos make the rooms look much nicer than they are. In person, they need repairs and a deep clean. There were large red stains on the carpet, hopefully not blood, and mold in the bathrooms. Noise was another issue: clubs nearby played music until 5am, and sounds from guests in a nearby room came through the door because it wasn’t soundproof.

The modern, fun atmosphere and stylish design made for a fantastic stay at Ovolo Hong Kong. My room was very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and getting around from this location was easy. There were lots of restaurants and cafés nearby too. Great value, and I’d happily come back.

There’s a useful study nook if you need to work, and the rooms are fairly spacious. There are two rooms per floor, and I think the other half of the building is residential. Even so, I don’t think I’d stay again. The photos are outdated, and our room felt very run down, with chipped and worn fittings and furniture. A karaoke place or club nearby blasted music until 4am and woke us every night. One night, someone started drilling tiles for bathroom renovations at 11pm. We called to complain and were told it should stop by 1am. The wooden floor by the bathroom was badly water-damaged, and the mattress was VERY thin and hard. The pillows were so soft that my head sank down to the mattress.

The room smelled like an old ashtray, since the rooms aren’t non-smoking. The complimentary coffee from the in-room machine was dreadful. Staff were friendly and helpful, though.
